Winter is upon us and everybody wants to keep warm. The only thing is – how do you do it? We’ve come up with 7 tips for keeping warm this winter to make sure you stay comfortable right the way through to next summer.
Wrap up warm
Nothing beats a cosy jumper or coat. Layer up and include lots of thick, wool clothes in your outfits to stay warm.
Watching TV on the sofa? Wrap yourself up in a thick, warm blanket and keep all of that precious warmth close to you.
Make a draught excluder
Picture this – you’re watching TV, the heating is on but you feel a cold draught coming through from another room. How do you stop it? With a draught excluder!
Draught excluders are relatively inexpensive to purchase but even cheaper to make yourself! It’s also a fun activity for you and the grandkids on one of those typical cold, British rainy days.
Eat warm, hearty foods
Nothing beats a warm, chunky stew or casserole. Maybe a lovely pea and potato soup is what you prefer? Either way, a nice warm meal is sure to increase your body temperature. Stay away from salads and sandwiches if you want to be comfortably warm.
Seal your chimney
Imagine having a big hole in the wall, letting in all of that cold air? That’s effectively what your chimney is doing! If you don’t have a fire, seal up your chimney and remove one of the biggest heat losses you will find in any home.
Use thicker curtains
Windows are one of the only parts of your home which are exposed completely to the outdoors with no form of protection. By using thicker curtains or drapes in winter, you minimise the amount of cold you let in to your home.
They also act as a form of insulation, helping you keep any warmth inside your home.
Draught proof your home
Much like a chimney, any gaps, holes or vents in your home may be letting the cold air in and the warm air out. Block or seal up any vents you don’t need to keep all of the heat in and Mr Jack Frost out!
Install Fischer dynamic radiators
It all starts with your heating system. We’ve mentioned a lot about keeping the heat in, but what if your heating system isn’t generating enough heat in the first place?
Our dynamic smart storage radiators are designed to give you the warmth you need, as well as being efficient and controllable for complete comfort and peace of mind. They have even had their efficiency tested and verified by EST, BRE and BSRIA.
In fact, EST said, “In an Energy Saving Trust field trial of five properties, where traditional electric storage heaters were replaced with Fischer Future Heat Dynamic Electric Storage Heaters, householders reported feeling more comfortable and at the same time maintained an indoor air temperature that was an average of 0.7°C lower suggesting that less energy may be required to maintain desired levels of comfort.”
Our dynamic radiators also contain a purpose built convection chamber and patented 40mm chamotte clay core. Our 40mm clay core is DOUBLE THE DEPTH of the core found within many of our competitors’ heaters, which is usually 20mm. More storage resulting in more heat and more comfort.
